When the new sod installation takes place, it is critical that proper watering techniques are followed. New sod must remain wet for the first 14 days. After the first 14 days, the roots should begin to dig into the ground and watering can be reduced. The amount of water needed will depend on the weather.
The sod experts at Healthy Lawn recommend the following watering schedule:
Below 55 degrees: As needed to keep sod wet
55-64 degrees: Every other day in the early morning (5:00-6:00 am)
65-74 degrees: Once a day in the early morning (5:00-6:00 am)
75-84 degrees: Two times a day (5:00-6:00 am and 12:00-1:00 pm)
85-above degrees: Three times a day (5:00-6:00 am and 12:00-1:00pm and 5:30-6:30pm)
Specific instructions are given to all customers to assist in the care of their new sod.
